A Night on the Tiles was the first (and last!) show created by spoken word hip hop theatre collective, Pen-ultimate, of which Ben was a founder member.
Directed by Montserrat Gili and with dramaturgy from US Hip-Hop pioneer Will Power, A Night On The Tiles was a unique and eclectic combination of spoken word, dark comedy and digital animation.
An electric mix of tightly woven wordplay and send ups of heist, caper and kung fu movies, A Night On The Tiles was a Tarantino-esque tale of revenge, murder and Devonshire cream teas.
The piece premiered in Contact's studio space in 2009 before being re-developed for their main house and co-commissioned by the Albany for a National and European tour in 2010-11.
A Night on the Tiles subsequently received a commission from international street theatre consortium Without Walls to be adapted into a piece of combined walkabout and static street theatre called A Day on the Tiles that toured to a number of international street theatre festivals across the UK.
